The Book Fairies is a Long Island–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that collects and redistributes books to underserved communities. Since 2012, they have donated over 4 million books to schools, shelters, and organizations across the tri-state area and beyond. Chapters 4 Change is their new fundraiser uniting students, volunteers, and partners to bring one million more books to readers by 2026.

Our initiative is powered by students and educators from universities across New York who host campus book drives and community reading events. These collaborations build a cycle of learning and giving that extends beyond campus boundaries.
NYIT students spearhead book drives through service learning initiatives and host annual literacy workshops in Queens and Long Island.
Partnering on volunteer drives and STEM-reading events, Stony Brook supports logistics and distribution through student volunteers.
St. John’s University community relations team integrates book collection into orientation weeks and mentorship programs for local youth.
